summer sighs and sounds…*hay*

i am beginning to feel that I was made for travel. no, don’t get me wrong, i still haven’t managed to perfect the fine art of travelling light. but i’ve mastered the art of carrying all the things i packed up to my place of destination and back, even if it’s not an ivcf gathering where you can actually ask the people of the male species to carry some of your things for you. (to my guy friends sa ivcf: i really appreciate that, i might have not said it before.)

i yearn to travel. i cannot imagine spending one summer without even visiting the the island next to Panay (i was thinking of negros actually, not guimaras) and staying there for at least 24 hours. not travelling would make my summer a very boring one.

my blood hunts for the ocean; my nose, the tang of salty sea water. my heart beats with the thump of the waves against the shore. my body may stay seated in a plastic armchair in class but my mind goes back to the places i’ve visited.

maybe it’s because i travelled so much last summer. cebu, singapore and indonesia make attending summer classes a poor excuse to stay in iloilo. add to it the fact that my parents didn’t give me permission to go to negros to attend a celebration of the ivcf camp humayan…i may be bored staying in iloilo now, but i know it’s for a good reason. (no, i’m not taking summer classes because i failed a subject, but because summer classes are required in my school.)

i console myself with the fact that i can travel wherever i want to when i graduate and get a job. no, i don’t want to get a greencard or a citizenship other than the filipino citizenship that much, i just want to travel and see other places, and bring home a piece of their culture in a nutshell.

still, for now, my blood hunts for the ocean; my nose, the tang of salty sea water. my heart beats with the thump of the waves against the shore. my body may stay seated in a plastic armchair in class but my mind goes back to the places i’ve visited…

*to those who don’t know me vey well: i’ve been to bahrain (was born there, but i’m filipino), hongkong, the philippines (i live here and love this land), singapore and indonesia (i chose to travel abroad for my eighteenth birthday instead of having a debut celebration).
